[CorpWatch] Drone Inc & Verax - two new publications! (and 2018 update)

Dear CorpWatch supporter,

Happy (almost) New Year! We'd like to tell you about our two new publications, hot off the presses!

Our first new report is "Drone Inc.: Marketing the Illusion of Precision Killing" - a richly illustrated 92 page publication that reveals the companies that build and manage the equipment used for targeted killed in the U.S. drone war abroad. (See http://www.killchain.org) Here's a link to a review from Salon: http://bit.ly/2CeKDMV

Next is a brand new graphic novel: "Verax: The True History of Whistleblowers, Drone Warfare, and Mass Surveillance," written by yours truly and illustrated by Khalil Bendib, our in-house cartoonist. It was just published by Macmillan. See http://www.veraxcomic.net.

Here's what critics have said about it: "Vividly comprehensive and concise guide to the story of mass surveillance and its whistle-blowers (and an) expose on the technology’s connection to a larger, darker reality." (Brandon Yu, San Francisco Chronicle.) And “I couldn’t put it down. It reads like a thriller. Take my word for it, because I write thrillers for a living. (But) this isn’t fiction.” (Barry Eisler, former CIA Directorate of Operations and best-selling spy novelist)

For a contribution of $50, we will mail you a copy of Drone Inc. For a contribution of $100, we will also mail you an autographed copy of Verax. (But of course, we welcome smaller and larger donations :))

You can donate online via Tides - see https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1442917. (Remember to state that this is for CorpWatch) Or you can also mail us a check at P.O. Box 29198, San Francisco, CA 94129.

With your financial support, CorpWatch will be able to complete a major upgrade of our 13 year old website to make it mobile friendly. (One reason we have not sent out as many emails recently). For a sneak preview, please see: http://new-www.corpwatch.org. We are short by about $2,500 to launch it.

Also with your support, next year we plan to investigate the medical and insurance companies that lie at the heart of the U.S. healthcare crisis. Second, we plan to create a comprehensive guide to the labor crisis created by the new "gig economy" (think Amazon and Uber, for example). Third, we want to explore alternative ways for governments to promote positive change with the multi-trillion contractor budgets at their disposal.

In order to do this, we plan to team up with new and unusual collaborators from progressive city bureaucrats to doctors, nurses and non traditional labor organizers. Do let us know if you have any advice or suggestions for these endeavors.

Thanks for any support you can offer! Don't forget, you can make a contribution online at https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1442917
