Just an observation.....

Image
Sitting in a doctor's office this week, I picked up a  Christmas magazine that offered interesting  recipes  and so on.....  Instead of informative information, interesting recipes ..... every other page was an ad for DRUGS!  Pills!  Since I customarily bring a book or something to do, the surplus magazines aren't perused.....  Is this what we've come to as a nation?   Several years ago, a medical doctor expressed his frustration that patients came to him having determined they had a certain condition or required a certain medical test from having seen it advertised on television..... Has American Ignorance reached this level?

Because, to paraphrase what Thomas Paine famously said during the Revolutionary War, these are the times that try Americans' souls. A Memory Buried Under The Debris Of Babri Masjid

Dear Friend, Today is the 25th anniversary of one of the greatest criminal acts that modern India witnessed, the demolition of the Babri Masjid mosque. The sad thing is that the perprators of this crime are still roaming free.  Rutuja Deshmukh Wakankar gives a personal ancedote of the Babri demolition as it felt in a small town in central India. She writes, "What we lost forever and we did not even realize for many years to come, was a reality, a reality of harmony, love and co-existence. Even partition could not separate Eid and Holi celebrations in our town, but Babri demolition did it. And I hold one man accountable for this loss which my generation grew-up with- Lal Krishna Advani." Vidya Bhushan Rawat points out that  Babari Masjid demolition is an attack on the Constitution of India.  Also more stories from around the world.  If you don't mind, and if you think the content of this news letter is critical for the dignified living and survival

MassBudget Information. Participation.  Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center Democracy. Explaining the State Budget for FY 2018 Including Veto Overrides In the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center's latest Budget Monitor , " The State Budget for FY 2018 Including Veto Overrides ," we see t he Fiscal Year 2018 (FY 2018) budget season ending much the way it started: with our state facing difficult fiscal conditions and unable to make the kinds of long-term investments that could significantly improve the quality of life in Massachusetts and expand opportunity in all communities. At this point in the process -- after the Legislature enacted the budget, the Governor made a number of line item vetoes, and the Legislature overrode virtually all those vetoes and approved some supplemental funding -- we have a state budget that makes some modest investments, particularly in education, child welfare, and in addre
