[Satire] Trump Expects An Exoneration Letter From Santa, While His Big Fat Gifts For The Middle Class Are A.....

Image
Trump has been privately telling people close to him that he expects  an exoneration letter from Santa Claus for Christmas.  While acknowledging that he has not been nice even one time since he  began running for office, Trump claims there is no evidence, no  evidence (see, he said it twice in a row) that he has been naughty  either.  "Yeah, sure I pout a lot, sad, and all I do is cry about how unfairly  I'm being treated, sad. But when Santa looks at all the things that  don't exist that I'm telling him to look at, my lawyers tell me my  exoneration letter is already on the sled, if not in the mail," Trump  said.  Trump pointed to all the tiny gifts for the middle class in his tax  bill, that will be taken back the instant the deficit goes up, as  proof that he can play Santa too, albeit in a reneging manner like  all the rest of his campaign promises. But he vowed to file a lawsuit  against Santa if St. Nick didn'

We Won’t Stop Fighting Big Media

We Won’t Stop Fighting Big Media Dear FAIR Activists,   This week was awesome. When last we wrote, we were halfway to our year-end goal of $50,000. You came through, and we are now just $10,000 away from making this much-needed funding.   FAIR isn't powered by millionaires, corporate advertising or partisan interests. We’re powered by regular individuals who believe in the independent work we do here. So if you’re waiting until the end of the year to pitch in—it’s here!                                            We need you to donate now.   Each and every donation is appreciated.   Despite a healthy rise in skepticism, many people still take news reports at face value—which is why corporate media's use of government officials, anonymous insiders and right-wing "experts" to distort the news needs to be called out. Support us in confronting corporate media in 2018. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to highlight these important stories in recent months

It is absolutely critical that we find a way to get the flow of contributions moving. In earnest. / Marc Ash, Founder Reader Supported News Sure, I'll make a donation! FOCUS: Stephen Eric Bronner | Next Year in Jerusalem    Stephen Eric Bronner, Reader Supported News   Bronner writes: "'Next year in Jerusalem!' was once the cry of an oppressed people seeking liberation from slavery and repenting its sins. Those same words now express the sentiments of an arrogant regime with expansionist ambitions."   READ MORE Contribute to RSN Become a Fan of RSN on  Facebook  and  Twitter Update My Monthly Donation

The poison at the heart of our democracy

Image
Call the Republican "tax reform” plan whatever you want: a scheme, a scam, a boondoggle. Here's the truth: in passing the plan, Republicans in Congress have done a disastrous thing. Working families and the middle class are set to shoulder the burden for massive tax cuts for the 1% and the biggest corporations. There's a poison at the heart of our democracy. The greed, the corruption, the backbreaking attacks on everyday Americans must stop. The only cure is a peaceful revolution. We need to take back our country at the ballot box. Stand with me. Let's take back Congress in 2018. Chip in $5 to my campaign today. NATIONAL LAW JOURNAL Supreme Court Brief POWERED BY  LAW.COM Tony Mauro Marcia Coyle Dec 20, 2017 The year 2017 sped by like one of the late Justice Antonin Scalia's famed trips across the 14th Street bridge. With Neil Gorsuch taking his seat in April, the Supreme Court is back in blockbuster mode with more to come in 2018. We're closing out the year with this issue of the Supreme Court Brief and while we aren't offering visions of sugar plums, we've got lots of items to  satisfy the inner SCOTUS nerd . A First Amendment challenge to mandatory bar membership has landed at the justices' door and is certain to spark both opposition and support. The solicitor general and the ACLU continue their court fights over immigrant teens seeking abortions and the government's allegations of unethical conduct by ACLU lawyers. We'll recap our  deep dive into diversity —or lack of—among high court clerks. And for last-minute holiday shoppers
