TAKE ACTION: What toxic chemicals are in your cleaning products?

When manufacturers are required to tell New Yorkers which chemicals they use, they tell all Americans which chemicals they use.

Americans spend billions of dollars each year on cleaning supplies, but many of us have no idea what chemicals are in them.

Tell the Governor of New York to require disclosure of ALL cleaning product ingredients.
Do you know if your cleaning products contain toxic chemicals that can cause asthma or even cancer? Right now it’s almost impossible to tell, because manufacturers don’t have to disclose what’s in their products. That could change soon, but we need your help.
New York’s Governor Cuomo promised to make protecting the public and the environment from chemical contamination a top priority—but manufacturers are fighting hard to keep secret the toxic chemicals that form during the processing of these products, or that come from contaminated raw materials.
When a three-year-old can't breathe, it doesn’t matter how an asthma-causing chemical ended up in a cleaning product. People want to know what is in the product and what kind of health problems it could cause, so they can make informed choices to keep their families safe.
We need the full picture and we need it now. A recent California disclosure law won’t require manufacturers to reveal everything in their products or whether their products contain asthma-causing chemicals, and the law won’t go into full effect until 2023.
In the meantime, one in 10 Americans suffer from asthma, and chemical manufacturers are concealing information that we need to protect ourselves. New York is poised to require disclosure of ALL ingredients in cleaning products, together with the many health hazards linked to those chemicals, including asthma.
Sincerely,
