Dan Helmer, Army veteran and candidate for Congress in Virginia's 10th District, was able to walk into a gun show and buy an assault rifle in less time than it takes to buy a cup of coffee.

Dan Helmer is a progressive veteran who served in Afghanistan and is running for Congress in a very competitive Virginia congressional district.

He also made a big enemy last week: the NRA.

Why? Because he filmed an undercover video of himself buying an assault weapon without a background check. It took him 10 minutes. The people selling it laughed as they asked if he was a felon.

So now the NRA is trying to tear Dan down. It’s up to us to lift him up.
