We're turning up the pressure

Greetings from Catalog Choice! We hope that you're making an empty mailbox part of your spring cleaning. This is your quarterly newsletter with updates and action opportunities.

Help us save trees and stop clutter. Each month, we process tens of thousands of opt-outs – keeping junk out of your mailbox and trees in the ground. But although our service is free to use, it’s not free to run. We depend on support from users just like you to keep the lights on every day. If you’ve benefited from Catalog Choice, would you show your appreciation by tipping $5, $15, or $50 today?

Take action to keep even more paper waste out of landfills. Did you know that Starbucks coffee cups aren’t recyclable? Thanks to their thin plastic lining, 4 billion of the coffee chain’s cups are sent to landfills each year. What a waste! Back in 2008, Starbucks pledged to create a 100% recyclable cup. A decade later, we’re still waiting. That’s why our parent organization, The Story of Stuff Project, is joining a coalition of groups demanding change from Starbucks. As a Catalog Choice member, you’ve shown that you’re ready to take action to reduce paper waste. Will you deepen your impact by adding your name to our petition to Starbucks?

We’re working to make our platform more effective than ever. We know how frustrating it can be when companies ignore your opt-out request and continue to send you mail that you don’t want. We are constantly striving to hold companies accountable. Now, we’re turning up the pressure by hiring a new member of the team to work with companies, ensure that they are honoring your opt-out requests, and put pressure on merchants who refuse to cooperate. Help us fund this position.

Stay in the loop. Catalog Choice is just one program of The Story of Stuff Project, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming the way that we make, use, and throw away stuff so that it is better for people and the planet. Each week, our campaigns and content reach millions of people – and we'd love for you to be one of them. Connect with us on FacebookTwitterInstagram, or by email to follow – and join – our work!

As always, thank you for being part of our community and helping stop junk mail for good!
