FBI's Andrew McCabe is fired a little more than 24 hours before he could retire | 16 March 2018 | Attorney General Jeff Sessions late Friday night fired former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, a little more than 24 hours before McCabe was set to retire. Sessions announced the decision in a statement just before 10 p.m., noting that both the Justice Department Inspector General and the FBI office that handles discipline had found "that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor -- including under oath -- on multiple occasions." He said based on those findings and the recommendation of the department’s senior career official, "I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately." McCabe has been fighting vigorously to keep his job, and on Thursday, he spent nearly four hours inside the Justice Department pleading his case.

Former FBI deputy director fired just days before retirement to kick in | 16 March 2018 | Former FBI deputy director Andy McCabe was fired Friday from the federal government, just two days before he was set to retire, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced in a statement late Friday night. Nearly 24 hours earlier, McCabe was inside the Justice Department making the case to keep his job until Sunday when he officially qualifies for retirement benefits. His firing means his full pension -- built after nearly 22 years in government -- is in jeopardy. In his statement Sessions said: "After an extensive and fair investigation and according to Department of Justice procedure, the Department's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provided its report on allegations of misconduct by Andrew McCabe to the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR)."

Andrew McCabe's Response to Being Fired Two Days Before His Retirement | 16 March 2018 | Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced on Friday evening that he had fired former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, two days before McCabe's retirement. Sessions said he made the decision after the Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General and the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility reviewed McCabe's conduct during the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton. FBI disciplinary office recommends firing former deputy director Andrew McCabe | 14 March 2018 | The FBI office that handles employee discipline has recommended firing the bureau's former deputy director over allegations that he authorized the disclosure of sensitive information to a reporter and misled investigators when asked about it -- though Justice Department officials are still reviewing the matter and have not come to a final decision, a person familiar with the case said. The recommendation from the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility is likely to add fuel to the political fire surrounding former deputy director Andrew McCabe, who abruptly stepped down from his post earlier this year but technically remained an FBI employee. McCabe was hoping to retire in days, when he becomes eligible for his full benefits...President Trump has long made McCabe a particular target of his ire, and the recommendation to fire the former No. 2 FBI official could give him new ammunition.

New Text Messages Reveal FBI Agent Was Friends With Judge in Flynn Case --Congressional members say DOJ stonewalling information on FBI texts | 16 March 2018 | Newly redacted text messages discovered by congressional investigators reveal that an embattled FBI agent at the center of the Russia investigation controversy was close friends with a District of Columbia judge who recused himself from the criminal case over former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, congressional members said, and text documents show. The never-before-seen text messages, which were a part of the texts given to Congress by the Department of Justice, show that FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and his paramour FBI attorney Lisa Page discussed Strzok's relationship with U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras, who presided over a Dec. 1, 2017, hearing where former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. Strzok was removed from Robert Mueller's Special Counsel's Office last year after anti-Trump text messages between him and his FBI agent lover were discovered by the DOJ's Inspector General Michael Horowitz. But on Dec. 7, without warning, Judge Rudolph Contreras was removed as the presiding judge on Flynn's case.

Paul Manafort asks judge to dismiss criminal charges against him | 15 March 2018 | Paul Manafort has asked a federal judge in DC to dismiss the five criminal charges against him, arguing that special counsel Robert Mueller had no right to indict him for work done before he joined the Trump campaign as chairman in 2016. "Those issues simply have no connection to the alleged coordination with the Russian government or the 2016 presidential election," Manafort's lawyer wrote in a motion to dismiss the case filed Wednesday. Though Manafort's team acknowledged that the Justice Department had told Mueller to prosecute any criminal action he discovers while investigating possible Russian collusion, "It is a blank check the special counsel has cashed, repeatedly," Manafort's filing said.

FDNY members among dead in military helicopter crash in Iraq | 16 March 2018 | Two FDNY members were among the seven soldiers killed in amilitary helicopter crash in Iraq -- including a father of two who was on his last tour of duty, heartbroken family and friends said Friday. Fire Marshal Christopher "Tripp" Zanetis and Lt. Christopher Raguso died Thursday when their Pave Hawk chopper struck a power line and went down along the Syrian border, authorities said...There are currently 62 members of the department on military duty around the globe.

7 US service members killed in Iraq helicopter crash | 16 March 2018 | Seven US service members were killed Thursday in a helicopter crash in western Iraq, the US military said. Army Brig. Gen. Jonathan P. Braga, the director of operations for the combined task force leading the 'fight against ISIS' in the region, said all personnel aboard the HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter were killed. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday that two members of the New York Fire Department were among those killed in the crash.

US military helicopter crashes in Iraq | 15 March 2018 | A US military HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter, a Black Hawk variant, has crashed in western Iraq near the border with Syria, according to multiple US defense officials. One US defense official said that there were "likely fatalities" involved and that rescue teams were on the scene in under an hour. The officials cautioned that these are early reports and that the Pave Hawk was carrying seven personnel, but was not on a combat mission.

UK blocks Russia's draft UN Security Council statement on Skripal poisoning case | 15 March 2018 | The UK has blocked a UN Security Council statement drafted by Russia, which called for an "urgent and civilized" investigation into the poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal in Salisbury. "The Russia-proposed March 14 project of a short and fact-based UNSC press statement calling for an urgent and civilized investigation into a resonant chemical incident in Britain in line with OPCW standards was crudely blocked by this country's representatives under a politicized pretext," Russian UN mission spokesman Fedor Strzhizhovskiy said. The proposed draft, unlike earlier statements by the UK and the US, did not assign blame for the incident, instead, it urged "all member states concerned to consult and cooperate" in the investigation as prescribed by the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Russian envoy to UN asks about Salisbury case, says Moscow ready for open probe | 14 March 2018 | Russia's envoy to the UN has demanded proof of Russia's involvement in the incident in Salisbury. He also asked members of UNSC to think who would benefit from these accusations. Vasily Nebenzya said the UK dragged this case to the UN rather than addressing a relevant international body in the Hague because it is scared of a professional probe...He said that the letter from Theresa May included unjustified accusations that Moscow had something to do with the use of toxic agents in Salisbury. "We were given 24 hours to confess to a crime," he said. "We do not speak the language of ultimatums."

Trump to remove McMaster as national security adviser - report | 15 March 2018 | President Trump has reportedly decided to remove [Deep State troll] H.R. McMaster as his national security adviser. The Washington Post reported Thursday evening that Trump is discussing potential replacements for McMaster, but is willing to take his time in removing him to ensure there is a strong successor. Rumors of McMaster’s exit have swirled in recent weeks, though the White House earlier this month pushed back on such reports.

Tritium found in groundwater at former Wisconsin nuclear plant | 13 March 2018 | (WI) The company charged with decommissioning a shuttered nuclear power plant in Genoa, has reported elevated levels of radioactive material in groundwater. LaCrosseSolutions, a subsidiary of the nuclear waste disposal company EnergySolutions, announced Monday that it had detected elevated levels of tritium in a monitoring well near the former reactor building. EnergySolutions spokesman Mark Walker said there was a reading of 24,200 picocuries per liter recorded on Feb. 14 in a monitoring well 25 feet below ground. Dairyland Power Cooperative workers at the neighboring coal-fired generator were instructed to stop drinking well water on March 6, although test results received Monday indicated water from the on-site well is safe to drink [!?!], according to LaCrosseSolutions.

Man Missing, 2 Injured in Explosion, Fire at Cresson Chemical Plant --Toxic air, explosion risk keeps crews from Hood County plant fire | 15 March 2018 | A North Texas man and his family fear the worst after an explosion destroyed the chemical plant where his brother worked Thursday morning. Dylan Mitchell, 27, is believed to have been inside the Tri-Chem Industries Plant, located along Texas 171 in the town of Cresson about 20 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Thursday when something sparked a fire and explosion that consumed the building. Mitchell has been missing since the fire was first reported; two of his coworkers were found and have been hospitalized with injuries.

Miami bridge collapse death toll rises; homicide detectives, FBI scour scene | 16 March 2018 | Homicide detectives and the FBI were working Friday morning alongside engineers at the scene of the Miami bridge collapse seeking clues about what went wrong, while beginning the grueling task of freeing bodies from inside crushed cars. At least six people were killed when the 950-ton pedestrian bridge near Florida International University's campus came down at around 1:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. One of the dead was identified only as a student at FIU, and officials warned that the death toll could rise. "We exhausted all our search and rescue capabilities," Miami-Dade County Fire Chief Dave Downey said at a 10 a.m. ET news conference Friday.

Florida bridge collapse: Witnesses said it sounded like 'a bang or an explosion' | 15 March 2018 | Witnesses said it sounded like a bang or an explosion. A 950-ton pedestrian walkway near a Florida university collapsed on a sunny Thursday afternoon, crushing cars and killing several people, according to officials. "All of the sudden we hear a loud bang," Jose Mejia, who was having coffee with city officials and police when the bridge near Florida International University's campus gave way, told MSNBC. At least 20 cars were crushed, he said, authorities said later that eight vehicles were trapped under the collapsed bridge.

Miami pedestrian bridge collapses, killing several, officials say | 15 March 2018 | A pedestrian walkway in Miami collapsed on Thursday, killing several people. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the fatalities after multiple vehicles were crushed by the span near Florida International University's campus. According to Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue, there were people on the bridge and several cars underneath it.

Hacker Adrian Lamo who turned WikiLeaks' source Chelsea Manning in to the FBI dead at 37 | 16 March 2018 | Adrian Lamo, the prolific hacker who turned Chelsea Manning in to the FBI, has died, according to a Facebook post by a family member. In the post, Mr Lamo's father Mario wrote: "With great sadness and a broken heart I have to let know all of Adrian's friends and acquaintances that he is dead. A bright mind and compassionate soul is gone, he was my beloved son." The coroner for Sedgwick County, where Lamo lived, confirmed his death, but provided no further details, according to areport by ZDNet.

Fearing a Utah 'coronation,' 11 Republicans challenge Romney --Mitt Romney filed papers on Thursday to officially become a candidate. | 15 March 2018 | Eleven Republicans stepped forward before a Thursday evening filing deadline to challenge former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in the Utah Senate race, including a state lawmaker who says an "establishment insider" can't fix problems in Washington. Many of the candidates acknowledge the David-vs.-Goliath nature of challenging the famous and popular Romney, but they say someone needs to keep the race to replace Republican Orrin Hatch from becoming a "coronation."

US Appeals Court Upholds Texas's Ban on 'Sanctuary Cities' | 13 March 2018 | A federal appeals court Tuesday upheld the bulk of Texas's crackdown on "sanctuary cities" in a victory for the Trump administration as part of its aggressive fight against measures seen as protecting immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally. The ruling by a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans allows Texas to enforce what critics call the toughest state-level immigration measure since Arizona passed what critics called a "Show Me Your Papers" law in 2010. The law allows police officers to ask people during routine stops whether they're in the U.S. legally and threatens sheriffs with jail time for not cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

Ohio student suspended for staying in class during walkouts | 16 March 2018 | An Ohio high school student says he tried to remain nonpolitical during [the U.S. Deep State/corporate-funded] school walkouts over gun violence and was suspended for a day because he stayed in a classroom instead of joining protests or the alternative, a study hall. Hilliard senior Jacob Shoemaker says school isn't the place for politics, and he wasn't taking sides Wednesday...Scott Shoemaker says some people thought his son was suspended for walking out, and angry comments accumulated, including some that mistook Scott for the principal. He says he also got a couple death threats and had to consider switching phone numbers.

An Ohio high school student has found himself at the center of political controversy after an online post about his suspension for staying in class during the national student school walkout went viral.

But that story isn’t exactly true.

Jacob Shoemaker, a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School in Hilliard, Ohio, was in fact suspended. But not because he chose not to join his classmates and the hundreds of thousands of students across the country who walked out of their classrooms to protest gun violence in the wake of a Florida school shooting that left 17 people dead. It was because he didn’t go to a designated area of the school where the non-protesters were supposed to be, and instead stayed by himself in a classroom.

Now Inclusion Means Exclusion | 14 March 2018 | Inclusion is merely the new soft, cottony term for marginalizing, shutting down, and kicking out the disfavored...The question on everyone's mind was: How can it be that "free speech" and "inclusion" are opposites? The whole point of the First Amendment, in its clauses on both religion and expression, is to protect the right to think and express unpopular, minority, even radical views...All over the country, especially at schools, "inclusion" is being used to push people and ideas out the door. At NYU, after professor of liberal studies [CLG Founder] Michael Rectenwald mocked hypersensitivity about Halloween costumes, he was castigated by the department's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Working Group, then pushed the same day to go on sudden leave in mid-semester.

Stephen Hawking dies aged 76 | 14 March 2018 | World renowned physicist Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76. He died peacefully at his home in Cambridge in the early hours of Wednesday, his family said. The Briton was known for his work with black holes and relativity, and wrote several popular science books including A Brief History of Time. At the age of 22 Prof Hawking was given only a few years to live after being diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease.
