GOOD MORNING MASSACHUSETTS.
FIRST IN PLAYBOOK - PRESSLEY HITS SIX FIGURES - In the seven days after Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley announced her bid to unseat Rep. Michael Capuano, her campaign has already hit an important milestone: They've already raked in over $100,000, her campaign tells me.
Among the donors who already maxxed out their donations to Pressley: Deb Benson, attorney and founding member of Invest to Elect and the MA Equal Pay Coalition; Sean Curran of Waterville Consulting; Dennis Kanin, principal, New Boston Ventures; Georgia Murray, chair of Pressley's Finance Committee; Dorothy Terrell, Managing Partner, FirstCap Advisors; Naomi Aberly, activist & philanthropist; and Jamie Chisholm of DraftKings.
There's still a long, and likely expensive, road to the September primary. The pressure remains on Pressley to show she can actually mobilize the sizable donor base needed to overcome the well-liked, well-connected incumbent. Pressley's campaign notes they don't expect to out-raise Capuano - and the end of the fundraising quarter is still months away.
