Previous edition: Japan poised to flood Pacific with one million tons of radioactive water from Fukushima [which Google relegated to the sp*m bin.] For those who missed this story: Japan is poised to flood the Pacific Ocean with one million tons of radioactive water contaminated by the Fukushima nuclear power plant --The amount of radioactive water at Fukushima is still growing, by 150 tons a day. | 26 Nov 2017 | The Japanese government is being urged by experts to gradually release radioactive water in to the Pacific Ocean more than six years after a tsunami overwhelmed the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The water is stored on site in around 900 large and densely packed tanks and could spill should another major disaster strike. The government has been urged to release the water into the ocean as all the radioactive elements of the water except tritium have [*allegedly*] been removed through treatment. But if the tank breaks, the contents may not be able to be controlled.

Wojcicki said that "bad actors" had used the video-sharing site to "mislead, manipulate, harass or even harm" actually educate others.
US, South Korea launch large-scale air drills amid spiraling nuclear tension | 04 Dec 2017 | Unprecedented joint air force drills between the US and South Korea, featuring hundreds of warplanes, have kicked off despite dire warnings from Pyongyang and Moscow's calls to avoid new provocations after the recent launch of North Korea's new ICBM. The Vigilant Ace 18 drills, which Seoul claims are of a purely "defensive nature," will see hundreds of US and South Korea's aircraft honing their skills by attacking mock North Korean nuclear and missile objects in different war time scenarios, Yonhap reported, citing South Korea's defense ministry. They will for the first time feature six F-22 Raptor stealth jets, that arrived to South Korea specifically for the war games along with six F-35As stealth jets.
Pentagon tried to block independent report on child sex among Afghan forces, Senate office says | 26 Nov 2017 | The Pentagon tried to block an independent assessment of child sex abuse crimes committed by [US-funded] Afghan soldiers and police, instead insisting on the creation of its own report offering a far less authoritative review of human rights violations perpetrated by U.S. allies, according to an aide to Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.). Although the report released Nov. 16 by the Defense Department Inspector General's office (DODIG) reached the grim conclusion that, for years, U.S. personnel have been inadequately trained to report such crimes, a parallel investigation by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) is thought to contain a much more detailed accounting of the problem's severity. But the results of SIGAR's unreleased inquiry, which was requested by 93 members of Congress in 2015, remains classified at the Pentagon's direction, raising questions about the military's transparency and the extent to which it is complying with laws meant to curb such abuse.

The U.S. would be the first country to move its embassy to Jerusalem, which is claimed by both Israelis and Palestinians. Former NSA spy believes he contracted Parkinson's from a microwave attack | 06 Dec 2017 | A former US National Security Agency officer believes that a weaponized microwave attack caused the Parkinson's disease that is now slowly killing him 10 years later. Little research has been conducted on the relationship between Parkinson's and forms of radiation like microwaves, but experts say that they can't be ruled out as contributing factors.
US citizens claim to have had symptoms similar to diplomats attacked in Cuba | 06 Oct 2017 | The State Department says it has received "a handful of reports" from American citizens who say they've experienced symptoms similar to those in attacks of US government workers in Havana. But the US isn't vouching for those reports. [Of course not.] The United States last week issued a travel warning that urges American travelers to stay away from Cuba. A State Department official says in the days following the travel warning, some citizens reported having similar symptoms after traveling to Cuba. [Sounds like the dry run of a new Pentagon weapon, just like the microwave experiments aka 'California wildfires.' Remember the 'wildfires' that destroyed entire homes in minutes but left the leaves on the trees and plastic swing-sets untouched?]

'Orwellian nightmare': German Interior Minister drafts law to spy on all digital devices - report | 03 Dec 2017 | Germany's Interior Minister wants secret backdoor access to computers, phones and even Volkswagens, according to a media report. Critics have slammed his plan as an "Orwellian nightmare." Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere plans to argue "the legal duty for third parties to allow for secret surveillance" during an interior ministry conference in Leipzig next week. The proposal would "dramatically extend" the state's powers to spy on its citizens, according to the RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND) report. If signed into law, de Maiziere's proposal would allow German security services to spy on any device connected to the internet.

Without mentioning the current president, Obama told the gathered audience of 1,800: 'We have to tend to this garden of democracy or else things could fall apart quickly. That's what happened in Germany in the 1930s, which despite the democracy of the Weimar Republic and centuries of high-level cultural and scientific achievements, Adolph Hitler rose to dominate.' Some Trump fans said Obama's comments were 'un-American' and 'disgusting'.

Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) revealed on Thursday that he is resigning because he discussed the option of surrogacy with female staffers. [!] The House Ethics Committee announced that it is opening an investigation into his actions. He said that he's choosing to resign because "in the midst of this current cultural and media climate [of insanity], I am deeply convinced I would be unable to complete a fair House Ethics investigation." Though he apologized, acknowledged some wrongdoing and called for an ethics investigation to be initiated, Franken resisted early calls for his resignation, even after additional accusations of misconduct surfaced.

Rep. Jordan Grills FBI Director: Did Agent Who Sent Anti-Trump Texts Bring Dossier to FISA Court?| 07 Dec 2017 | Rep. Jim Jordan grilled FBI Director Christopher Wray this morning on the suspected actions of an FBI agent found to have sent anti-Trump text messages to his mistress. At the House hearing, Jordan (R-Ohio) zeroed in on Peter Strzok's work on the Hillary Clinton email investigation and asked whether Strzok had anything to do with the anti-Trump dossier. Strzok was moved off Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation over the summer after the text messages were discovered. "If you kicked everybody off of Mueller's team who was anti-Trump, I don't think there'd be anybody left," said Jordan, alleging there is "more" behind Strzok's departure from Mueller's team.
Another Mueller deputy caught sending anti-Trump message: Top prosecutor told Obama holdover who refused to defend travel ban that 'I am so proud' | 05 Dec 2017 | A top prosecutor working with special counsel Robert Mueller praised former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates at a moment in late January when she was at loggerheads with newly minted president Donald Trump. Andrew Weissman emailed Yates ten days into the Trump administration after she refused to enforce or defend an executive order banning incoming travelers to the U.S. from seven terror-prone countries. 'I am so proud. And in awe. Thank you so much. All my deepest respects,' Weissman wrote to her. The message, sent January 30 to Yates's government email account, was one of hundreds of pages of documents newly obtained by Judicial Watch, a right-leaning advocacy group.
Revealed: FBI agent removed from Mueller probe over anti-Trump texts changed Comey's rebuke of Hillary's email use from 'grossly negligent' to 'extremely careless' | 04 Dec 2017 | The FBI agent who was dismissed from the Mueller probe for anti-Trump messages was responsible for changing the description that James Comey read when reprimanding Hillary Clinton for using her private email server. CNN reported Monday that Peter Strzok, one of the top officials involved in the investigation of Clinton's private email server, changed Comey's remarks from saying Clinton's behavior was 'grossly negligent' to 'extremely careless.' This distinction is important because there are criminal penalties for individuals who mishandle classified material with 'gross negligence,' the network pointed out.

During a live "special report" Friday morning, Ross reported that Flynn would testify that Donald Trump had ordered him to make contact with Russians about foreign policy while he was still a candidate. The report raised the specter of Trump's impeachment and sent the stock market plummeting. Later in the day, ABC issued a "clarification" to Ross's report, saying that Trump's alleged directive came after he'd been elected president.
Why Flynn's plea is a dead end for 'Russiagate' conspiracy | 01 Dec 2017 | President Donald Trump's short-lived national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. Most US media jumped on the plea as proof of Trump's collusion with Russia. Actual documents, however, tell a different story. A court document signed by special counsel Robert Mueller, dated Thursday, specifies two instances of Flynn telling FBI investigators things that were not true. They relate to two conversations he had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, in December 2016. In the Statement of Offense [!?!] signed by Flynn at his court appearance on Friday, he admitted to acting on instructions from a senior "Presidential Transition Team" (PTT) official, prompting breathless speculation if that was Trump himself, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, or someone else altogether. The one question nobody seems to be asking is, "So what?" [Oh, believe me, I'm asking it!]
Michael Flynn pleads guilty to lying to FBI in Mueller['s deep-state] probe | 01 Dec 2017 | Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty on Friday in federal court to a charge of making false statements to the FBI about his communications with Russia. A two-page charging document filed Thursday lists two false statements Flynn made about his interactions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in late December 2016. It says Flynn falsely claimed that he had not asked Kislyak on Dec. 29 "to refrain from escalating the situation in response to sanctions that the U.S. had imposed against Russia," and that he didn't recall Kislyak telling him Russia had decided to moderate its response as a result of his request.

House passes bill requiring states recognize concealed gun permits | 06 Dec 2017 | The US House of Representatives passed the Conceal Carry Reciprocity bill on Wednesday, bringing America one step closer to effectively allowing all Americans to secretly carry firearms in all 50 states. The bill, which the National Rifle Association has called its "highest legislative priority in Congress," would amend the federal criminal code to allow the concealed transport of handguns across state lines, so long as both states allow concealed carry. This federal law would supersede any state statutes on concealed firearms.
Supreme Court permits full enforcement of Trump travel ban | 04 Dec 2017 | Handing the White House a huge judicial victory, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled in favor of President Trump’s travel ban affecting residents of six majority-Muslim countries. The justices said the policy can take full effect despite multiple legal challenges against it that haven’t yet made their way through the judicial system. The ban applies to people from Syria, Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. Lower courts had said people from those countries with a "bona fide" relationship with someone in the United States could not be prevented from entry.
Add-ons in the Republican tax bill | 02 Dec 2017 | The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed in the Senate in the early hours of Saturday now has to be combined with the House version passed in November to make a final law... Drilling the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge: A very non-tax related addition to the Senate bill was squeezed in that would open the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge to drilling. This is a[n insane] goal of Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, who may have promised her vote for the addition of the provision.Private jet tax break: Possibly the most unappetizing aspect of the bill is the tax break for private jet owners. The provision would exempt aircraft owners from taxes on the "maintenance and support of the aircraft owner's aircraft or flights on the aircraft owner's aircraft." Bad news for Gulf Airlines Foreign airlines...will face corporate tax for landing in US airspace [Good!], ending a tax exemption for the airlines.

At least three people were burned in the blaze, which roared through Bonsall, a rural community of ranches and agricultural lands, toward Oceanside. As firefighters in Ventura County grappled with an explosive blaze northwest of downtown Los Angeles, others across the region confronted additional fires that burned during the day and forced more evacuations. Authorities issued ominous warnings of more dangers to come during a "multiday event" across the area, as weather forecasters said the region faces "extreme fire danger" through at least Thursday due to intense Santa Ana winds and low humidity that could cause the fires to grow rapidly.
Pharma-terrorism: Dengue vaccine program halted in Philippines after study shows it could worsen outbreak | 03 Dec 2017 | Hundreds of thousands of children in the Philippines have been given a dengue vaccine which may worsen the outbreak, officials warned, as they halted the program late last week. The vaccine, Dengvaxia, has been administered to more than 730,000 public school children aged 9 and older in three endemic regions of the Philippines. France-based manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur said that an analysis of the drug based on six years of clinical data showed that in the longer term, more cases of severe dengue could occur in those who have been vaccinated with the drug among people who have not previously been infected with dengue.
