Earlier this week,  The Cincinnati Enquirer  profiled Solis, along with his mother, Sandra Mendoza, 24, and Yancarlos Mendez, 27, an undocumented mechanic who for years has been involved in Solis’ life in Ohio after the boy’s biological father left following domestic abuse allegations. Government Shutdown

     Regrettably, the federal government is closed. Like you, I am frustrated by this turn of events, and I am working hard to reach a principled solution to reopen the government. For months, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have prioritized corporate tax cuts over passing a budget that helps working families. Congress repeatedly passed short-term spending bills over the last several months in order to provide additional time to negotiate a long-term, bipartisan budget agreement. However, no real talks ever occurred and the President has provided contradictory and changing objectives. I am focused on passing a robust budget for our national security and our economic security, improving health care, helping families and businesses recover from last fall's devastating hurricanes, and putting real resources into the opioid crisis. Congress must also boost border security and find a way to protect the young people who were brought to this country...

That was the message delivered by the region’s senators and representatives during a meeting of the Pilgrim Nuclear Decommissioning Advisory Panel at Cape Cod Community College on Wednesday night. “We’re entering a really critical phase: the safe, swift decommissioning of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station,” state Sen. BAKER'S PLANNED PARENTHOOD BOOST -  Gov.  Charlie Baker  got a hit of good news from an unlikely ally yesterday.  Planned Parenthood Massachusetts  lauded the Baker administration for locking down $1.6 million in the state's supplemental budget that allocated for family planning services for low-income and uninsured residents in case the Trump administration doesn't extend federal grants to do just that.
