In light of Trey Gowdy announcing his resignation from the House Ethics…
BLUEDOTDAILY.COM

In light of Trey Gowdy announcing his resignation from the House Ethics Committee – according to a letter he sent to Speaker Paul Ryan earlier this week -, let’s take a walk down memory lane for a moment when Trey Gowdy said something that certainly raised eyebrows at the time, but never really got the attention it deserved.
Representative Trey Gowdy (R. SC) faced off with CIA director Brennan about his role in the Trump/Russia scandal, and it did not go well for Gowdy, to say the least. Unfortunately for Gowdy, his connections to Donald Trump go deeper than the general public may realize, which just may help explain his clear bias in the scandal.
Gowdy’s super PAC accepted large sums of money starting around the time that the House Intelligence Committee began investigating Trump and his campaign for collusion with Russia to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.
Meanwhile, Gowdy also faced a House Ethics complaint for actions related to the Benghazi investigation against Hillary Clinton. Those actions by Trey Gowdy have been called bribes by the Democratic Coalition, who filed ethics complaint against Gowdy.

Here’s where things got worse for Gowdy…

Gowdy defended contact by the Russians in an interview with Manu Raju, a congressional reporter for CNN, and said, “It’s not unusual for Russians to contact campaigns.”
This is incorrect and a major slip by Gowdy. There are literally zero reasons for Russia to ever contact American elections campaigns. Gowdy’s comment suggested he knows that Russia does in fact contact some campaigns, which may implicate him in the Trump Russia scandal.
Chief Political Analyst for ABC News, Matthew Dowd, responded to Manu Raju’s tweet saying, “Never happened to me in 2000, 2004, never happened to Begala in 1992 and 1996, never happened to Schmidt in 2004 and 2008.”
Inquisitr points out, How Trey Gowdy knows that Russia contacts campaigns is unclear at this time. Think Progress noted that there are only two possible reasons for Trey to make this claim. The first being the “most obvious explanation” that Trey Gowdy is just covering up for Donald Trump.
The other “more disturbing possibility” is that Russians do contact Republican campaigns. But this is not permitted in a campaign. Any foreign state contact with an election campaign must be disclosed to the FBI and to the appropriate committees. If it is not, it is presumed that there is something to hide.
Trey Gowdy has inserted himself back into the news cycle with his resignation, so it’s time this be investigated.
