Dalits of India rise up!

Dear Friend,

Iran has been rocked for the past six days by protests against food-price rises, mass joblessness, ever-widening social inequality, and the Islamic Republic’s brutal austerity program and political repression

In India the oppressed Dalits have risen up against the oppressive Brahmanical system. Today, Maharashtra observed a mass strike against the recent attack on Dalits who were celbrating the anniversary of a historical battle in which dalit soldiers defeated the Brahmanic Peshwa army on January 1st, 1818. India is witnessing a churning. The oppressed castes and class are rising up. They must find a common ground to come together to throw away the oppressive class and castes.

Our earth system is facing massive threat. Peter Van Els makes a passinate plea "Plants And Animals Don’t Have A Voice, Let Us Be Theirs".

Gangs, Race And Melbourne
by Dr Binoy Kampmark

Having repeatedly boasted, self-congratulated and beamed at the idea that Australia is the most multicultural nation on earth, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has been less cautious of late.    He has been getting stroppy with the Victorian Government for not doing enough about what he considers Melbourne’s “growing gang violence and lawlessness”.

The Fierce Urgency Of “How”

There is only one pathway to avert the crisis humanity is heading toward, and it is to deeply feel the connection with the ecosystem we are a part of. But understand, this is not an ecological argument, this is not about the climate or other environmental systems

Plants And Animals Don’t Have A Voice, Let Us Be Theirs
by Peter Van Els

The three largest tropical forests in the world are the aforementioned Amazon, the jungles of Indonesia and the Congo Basin. They are threatened by the demand from large multinationals for raw materials such as wood, palm oil and soya, but also for cheap meat. Weak governance, poor compliance with laws and corruption in all three regions ad to the problem. The interests of the local population are often subordinated to those of multinationals.

This tax bill is a conscious and strategic move to deal with economic contradictions and imperialist great-power needs.

Am I My Brother’s Keeper?
by Sally Dugman

This is especially the case when so few members of our 7.5 billion people on this planet foist to enact change, those of us who see the dire necessity to do so. So, what choice have we? Are we our brother’s and sister’s keepers or not? … and beyond the people, are we going to choose to be keepers of the planet and as many species as we can salvage for future generations despite that the human element and the rest are often and increasingly dialectically opposed to this end?

And Quiet Flows The Ganga
by Ashish Singh

From Nehru to Modi, India has seen many governments, so has the Ganges. Although not much has changed for the holy river. Ganga is not just a river for India and Indians but is a symbol of religious and spiritual faith for the country. Despite its importance in the society-from socio-cultural perspective as well as the environmental aspect-, Ganga still seeks attention from its worshippers to remain clean and pure.

by Moin Qazi

A recent alarming signal in the health profile of Indian children went largely unnoticed.
